Marriage and civil partnership

Mansion House bride and groom outside

Covid-19 update:

Wales is moving to Coronavirus Alert Level 0 from Saturday 7 August 2021. We are able to welcome groups of 35 (which includes the couple and any children) for ceremonies at the Mansion House from that date. We are also able to welcome up to 10 extra well-wishers into our grounds for photographs following the ceremony. Garden ceremonies are available by prior arrangement.

Couples should consult their reception venue for advice on how many guests can attend their reception.

We will comply with the social distancing, essential travel and social gathering guidance published by Welsh Government in effect on the day of your ceremony.

Please read our Covid-19 ceremony guidance for couples and invited guests

We will, as always, do our utmost to make this a special and meaningful occasion within the guidance we must follow.

As we are particularly busy please use our ceremony enquiry form (to use the form, either login or create an account, or use as 'Guest', see bottom left of the form) to contact us.

Congratulations, your future together starts here!

We recognise that your wedding or civil partnership is a unique and special occasion and we are here to help make it a day to remember.

Whatever your arrangements we will try to ensure that your ceremony is what you want it to be and, most importantly, that it is carried out in accordance with the law.

Newport Registration Service is located at the Mansion House, near the city centre - a photograph of the Mansion House can be seen here.

You are welcome to come and take a look at the room choices within our building before booking your ceremony as once legal preliminaries have been started, paperwork will only be valid for the stated room. Please contact us to request a room viewing.

Whatever type of ceremony you would like, we will do our very best to accommodate your wishes and our experienced registration staff can guide and advise you along the way.

Here in Newport we are lucky enough to have a variety of different venues licensed for civil ceremonies.

If you dream of walking up the aisle in a stately home or would prefer the unique quirkiness of a coastal lighthouse, we have those options for you.

If a glamorous hotel or friendly golf club is more your thing, we have those too.

If the thought of warm sunshine and birdsong in a beautiful park and being married from a bandstand appeals to your romantic nature then we can help you.

Of course there are alternatives, maybe you are looking for an outdoor ceremony (weather permitting!) followed or preceded by legal vows in licensed premises - we can help you with that too.

You do not have to live in Newport to hold your ceremony here.
