Market Arcade PSPO
A public space protection order (PSPO) is designed to prevent anti-social behaviour in a public place where it is disturbing, or is likely to disturb, local people's quality of life, and the behaviour is likely to continue and is unreasonable.
PSPOs can restrict access to public spaces (including some highways) where the route is being used to commit anti-social behaviour and can be enforced by a police officer, police community support officer and delegated council officers.
A breach of a PSPO is a criminal offence and a fixed penalty notice of up to £100 may be issued, or a fine of up to £1,000 on prosecution.
Following consultation the Market Arcade PSPO (pdf) will come into operation from16 November 2020.
Market Arcade will be gated in the evenings to prevent anti-social behaviour.
