Any negative responses made during the consultation period will not be counted as objections to the proposal, and instead will be counted as adverse comments.
Objections to a proposal can only be registered after the publication of a statutory notice which is the second stage in the proposal.
The consultation ended at midnight, 12 November 2020.
What happens next?
Following the end of the consultation period, a consultation report will be prepared which summarises the consultation and engagement process, the comments received and the council's response to these comments.
Newport City Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Skills will then consider the views expressed and decide whether to proceed with the proposal.
If the decision is taken to proceed, a statutory proposal will be published.
The statutory proposal period will last for 28 days following the date of publication and enables people to express their views in the form of supporting or objecting to the proposals.
If no objections are received following the publication of the statutory proposal, the Cabinet Member will make the final decision whether to proceed.
If any objections are received and not subsequently withdrawn during this notice period, the council’s Cabinet will determine the final decision.
