Newport Libraries

Libraries_May 2016

From Wednesday 1 September all Newport libraries will open for browsing without the need to make an appointment.

To protect visitors the following preventative measures will still be in place:

  • All visitors over the age of 11 must use a face mask (unless medical exemptions apply)
  • To support the Test Trace Protect programme visitors will be required to provide their contact details which will be kept on file for 21 days.
  • Reduced public seating at all sites with some re-arrangement of shelving to improve physical distancing
  • One-way systems.
  • Staff monitoring of visitor numbers and management of entry if required
  • Borrowers to use self-service kiosks wherever possible
  • Public PC bookings remain limited to one hour. Number of PCs available reduced to maintain physical distancing
  • Use of the Local Studies area in Central Library by drop-in or appointment. Seating reduced to maintain physical distancing.

Borrowed items will continue to automatically renew until the end of September when this will be reviewed. We ask that where possible you return books to help us make these available for other borrowers.
